Her earlier work, Eve was Framed, covers a lot of the same topics and issues as “Eve was shamed” – however this most recent publication includes more relevant data, studies and commentaries on the current political climate, such as the “Me Too” movement. Particularly with a view to feminism and women’s equality, the solutions to major issues such as sentencing and punishment weren’t as obvious as I previously thought they are much more complex and nuanced, and the book really developed how I thought about the law and helped me form more sophisticated opinions. It also introduced me to some issues within our modern legal system, and suggestions as to how they can be changed to benefit everyone. I knew the law is important in society, but it wasn’t until I read this book that I realised exactly how much impact the law had on people everyday, not just those in court.
